Join the Innsbruck Reads book club

There is no fee to join the book club. If you’d like to become a member, be notified of future book club dates, and be invited to private book club events, add your details below. I try to send out a monthly-ish update of what’s coming up, previous book club discussions and, if I have time, a bit of reading inspiration.

No spam. (Honestly, who has the time to spam people about a book club?!)

About this book club meetup in Innsbruck

I limit the list of upcoming book club events to 3-4. This gives everyone enough time to read the books as well as a chance to register.

A note about registering:

Registration is simple: name & email address only. When you register, you’ll receive a confirmation link with a calendar invitation. I will send out a reminder a few days before the event, and in the event that we need to cancel, or the venue changes, I’ll email you.

When you register, I’ll also add you to the book club mailing list. This is essentially the “member list.” Every month or two, I will send an email to this list sharing upcoming events, including private events for members.

You can unsubscribe from this at any time (using the unsubscribe button in the footer. You will then receive no further communication from me, alttough you are welcome to sign up to public book club meetings.

We’re on Instagram (although I confess that updates are occasional!)

Planned books on our list & event formats

The Monthly Monday Meetup is the regular format.

We also have quarterly-ish reading salons, and special formats like Speed Booking, Book “Walk & talks”, Silent Reading Dates, and an emerging Cook & Book event. Plus summer and end of year casual get-togethers.

Monthly book club reads:

A Monday meetup where you’re invited to read the book of the month and join us to talk about it. Usually runs from September-June (summer break: July & August).

Seasonal reading salons:

Every quarter or so (sometimes every 3 months, sometimes every 4 months), we have a broad theme and a few recommended titles to get you started. You’re welcome to read any titles that fall into that theme (any genre) over the coming months. We’ll meet for a free-style book discussion, where anything goes, as long as you can link it briefly to the theme.

Past seasonal salons
  • Autumn 2026:
The ninth art – Comic Books, Graphic Novels, & Manga
  • Summer 2026:
    Brushing up on Art
  • Winter 2025:
    Island Style
  • Summer 2025:
    The Summer of Self-Help

Other formats

I experiment with a few different formats in addition to the monthly and quarterly events. We currently have:

  • Books on Foot: a book walk-and-talk to share 2-3 books that you’ve read and recommend.
  • Speed booking: like speed dating but for book lovers: fast paired sharing about a single book or a genre that you love. Themes vary, but the purpose is to inspire and connect.
  • Silent reading dates: we meet, say a quick hello, then spend an hour reading in silence. No phones, just books and us. A brief farewell, and perhaps a joint coffee.
  • Dinner &  book discussion: diners get different courses – the Apero, the starter, the main, the dessert etc. And we share over a meal.
  • New for 2027: two or three new formats will be added – Innsbruck Reads Aloud + Innsbruck Young Reads + Innsbruck Reads Picture Books.

More information

The Innsbruck Reads Book Club is a friendly, bi-lingual (English-German) book club group based in the heart of the Alps, in beautiful Innsbruck. We try to choose books that are available in DE & EN, and you are welcome to read in whatever language you like.

Discussions typically take place in either English or German, and often, a bit of a mix of the two.

We currently have about +-120 members on our list, but the number of people who turn up to each book club meeting varies from 6-20.

You are welcome to join us and come as often as you like. Whatever your age, gender, cultural background, or beliefs, if you love books and are open to discussions about what we read, then you are WELCOME!

Feeling a bit shy? You are also welcome to “lurk” on the list and enjoy occasional updates and recommendations, and join us when you’re having a good day, too!
